The Flying Grey Back in the Winners Circle
After a year of turmoil and injuries Colin was able to produce Stanzout for a first up victory in the 1200M $80,000 GBG CONCRETE & CONSTRUCTION SALE QUALITY HCP. Ridden patiently by Danny Brereton, Stanzout was able to settle down towards the back of the field and slowly move into race as they approached the home turn. Then soon after straightening he quickly moved up very wide on the track and put paid to his rivals in similar fashion to his early days. The flying grey turned back time as he produced his customary tenacious fight to prove too strong for Miss Mitari and Zedi Night.
Colin said he has always had faith in this horse and believes if it wasn't for the Equine Influenza vaccination wich caused quite a few problems we could have have seen a world class sprinter.
It is fantastic to have him back in the winner's circle and I look forward to the Autumn carnival said Colin this afternoon.

Colin happy to go Bush
For those that know him, Colin Davies has always had the welfare and care of his horses as a priority and has built a reputation of not just being a fine horse trainer, but more importantly a genuine horseman. In December Colin's attributes were officially recognized when he gained his Diploma of Racing (Thoroughbred Trainer).

At Colin Davies Racing Stables you can be sure of one thing, your horse will be given every opportunity to perform to its best. All owners would love to win big races in the city but the reality is; only a select few horses are up to Group standard. Some horses find it hard to win in town so I am happy to travel to where the horse can compete successfully says Colin. I understand that every owner deserves to see their horse in the winner's circle so if I need to send a horse around at the picnics or in the bush then so be it.

Recent winners Sallyhernane, Pure Dancer and Winglesia have all proved Colin's persistence and placement correct.

Velocitea earned herself a shot at next month's Group I Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide after cruising to victory in the Listed J R A Plate (1200m) at Caulfield. But Colin is still looking towards a trip to South Australia himself after Stanzout ran a great race second up after a long break.

He finished a creditable fifth at his first Stakes run this campaign. Jockey Danny Brereton thought he would reel them in up on straightening but his run faded as his fitness gave out. He pulled up well after the run and we will see how he goes during the next couple of weeks before committing to a Goodwood run said Colin.
